In turn, this variability and reliability of travel times depends on the physical characteristics of the facility (number of lanes, slope, junctions …) and on its relation to the demand for travelling through it. Because always exist a budget limitation in the intensive monitoring of the network, and road networks are vast, priorities must be given to certain locations.
This may result from the oversight of the researchers’ community to the practical problems, which appear in the implementation of the method. For instance, from the author knowledge, contributions are not found in the literature analyzing in detail the problematic detector drift phenomenon, which accumulate in the input/output curves until they become meaningless.
