From the relatively isolated position of his earlier years, Peter Newmark has gradually gained an international reputation as evidenced by his participation in large numbers of meetings and conferences throughout the world and his presence on numerous international examination boards. In 1984, he was invited by the Hong Kong Baptist University to design a four-year degree course in Translation Studies. Again, in 1991, he accepted the invitation from University Consultants Japan Ltd. to design and direct a course leading to a Diploma in Translation for Japanese students.
